To join we need a completed application and membership dues for the first year. A valid copy of a DD-214 and/or
Military ID is required for all military personnel. (We may also do a verification with the VA to ensure authenticity.
There will be no extra fee for this process). Then the applicant will be voted on. As long as the member-to-be is
valid, they will most likely be voted in without any problems. We are a very democratic organization!!!!
Please contact us for more information. A copy of the application is available on this website. Just print it out
and mail it to our office.
* If paying by check or money order, Please make it payable to Doug Cordova. I am still in the process of getting an
account under the name of the fraternity. Sorry, At this time credit cards cannot be accepted. But I am working on that
too!!! Please, if at all possible, do not send cash. Once a member, we may mail you an advertisment
flyer to post where you think people may see it. The more people we get to join, the more troops we can support.
Initiation Process:
The initiation process is a ceremony that tries to stick to military protocol and traditions. The member(s) being intiated
fall into the ceremony facility in formation and in-step. They are led by a member of the intiation team. ( known as the "Seargant-at-Arms"
or SAA). The intiating officers are in places prearranged by the Commander(CDR). Each member of the iniating
team will address the group or person being iniated and speak. (Usually it's a scripted piece about the benefits of membership
and pride in service to our country). After that, The post Chaplain will address the group. Once that is completed, Each member
will approach the Commander. They will salute the National Ensign (American Flag) and salute the Senior Vice Commander (SVC)
and then salute the Commander. While standing at attention, the members-to-be will raise their right hand and repeat the oath
of membership. Once that is completed they will pass between the National Ensign and POW/MIA flags and will officially
be members of DELTA SIGMA ALPHA MILITARY VETERANS FRATERNITY. They will also fall into a formation behind the Commander and
Senior Vice Commander. All new members may be given a flag pin and a fraternity patch as a souvenier of the ceremony.
These are important items and should be cherished and preserved. The Commander may do a "Souvenier Check" on occasion to see
who has them!!!
At this time, the initiation process is for all persons. There may be a seperate process for Auxiliary and Comrades at
a later date.
